Meet Gertrude. Gertrude is the local name for the miniature pig that's native to Tuscany, the Cinta Senese heirloom breed that originated in the Siena area during the 1300s. La Maialina translates as "little pig," so why not name their first IGT after their little friend? We have to assume that the original Gertrude tastes a lot like bacon. This one, however, tastes like bright red berries, cinnamon, anise and cherries, and it's as crowd pleasing as...well...bacon!
