Winemaker's Notes
In 1893, newlyweds Edoardo and Angela Seghesio purchased their first home in Alexander Valley. As winemaker for the most prominent winery in Sonoma County, Edoardo recognized great vineyard potential surrounding the modest home. In 1895, he planted the "Home Ranch" and began our family's lineage of Sharing Uncommon Ground.
Lush boysenberries and blackberries flood the senses – mouthwatering! Briary underbrush spiciness with subtle hints of black pepper. Home Ranch site-specific "graham crust" nuance. Old Vine's prominent acid presence contributes focus Warm climate exposure to the elements provides for well integrated tannin ripeness. Vineyard Designate that consistently produces finely crafted Zinfandel.

Accolades
92 Points, Wine Spectator
"Distinctive and deeply structured, delivering boysenberry, summer savory and earthy mineral aromas, this bursts with flavors of blueberry, plum and licorice. Rich and supple, with tannins that build slowly on the finish. Drink now through 2016. "

92 Points, Wine Enthusiast
"An awesome Zinfandel that shows how delicious the variety can be in the right hands. The wine is unusually complex for Zin, showing not only its briary wild berry flavors, but deeper terroir-driven notes of minerals. The tannins are strong but very fine, while crisp acidity provides balance. Definitely hot in the finish, but fiery barbecue will be a perfect pairing."

90 Points, The Wine Advocate

"The similarly colored, dense ruby/purple 2010 Zinfandel Home Ranch has big, sweet black raspberry, black cherry and earthy undertones and a multi-dimensional, rich, dense mouthfeel. This superb Zinfandel continues the great success Seghesio has had with this varietal. A big Zinfandel but eminently drinkable already, this wine should continue to evolve for another 5-6 years, although its virtues are its exuberance, gorgeous fruit, and fragrance, which are best appreciated in its exuberant youthfulness."
